The Corval Solution

Frequently Asked Questions

Corval is dedicated to leveraging technology to help biopharma companies and consultants navigate the complex journey from clinic to market, enable cross-functional collaboration, and build capabilities. This innovative software platform enables teams to create and manage strategic, tailored multi-year commercialization roadmaps, detailed budgets, and full resource plans.

How do most companies use Corval?

Most companies use Corval to quickly develop a comprehensive, cross-functional plan for commercialization between early stage (Phase 1 – Phase 2) and launch and most typically between late phase 2/early phase 3 and launch. The plan includes detailed objectives and high-level initiatives, as well as granular-level details on an activity/task level, timing and related resources, and budget needed to bring the asset to market.

Who is the person (or what role) that manages this internally?

This depends on what clinical stage the company is in:

  • In early-stage companies (Ph1 – early Ph2), it is often C-suites or VP roles (CEO, CFO, VP of Strategy, etc.)
  • In late-stage companies (end of Ph2 – Ph3), other roles can come into play (CCO, VP or Sr. Dir. of Program Management, VP of NPP, etc.)

But at the end of the day, Corval is designed and built so that almost any role within your company can take responsibility as commercialization and launch planning is a cross-functional endeavor.

Do we (biopharma company or consultant) put in the numbers (costs) or are they pre-populated?

The Corval Platform comes entirely ready to use! It is completely and thoroughly pre-populated with a solid starting point recommendation for activities, timing vis a vis clinical development and regulatory milestones, logic and interdependencies, costs including head count, salary ranges, and operational fees associated with each objective and activity. These costs represent typical benchmarks in the industry and are fully editable and updated for each specific asset or market company situation. The editing of costs is supported by our commercialization experts so that you make an informed decision.

Can I trust Corval’s pre-populated data? Where does it come from?

The data, including costs in the platform, is based on industry benchmarks and thousands of datapoints from real-world launch engagements. It is curated by commercialization experts and validated across assets, markets, and therapeutic areas against publicly available data. We update the data in the platform on an ongoing basis to ensure our customers have the most accurate and timely information.

What if we need just the most critical items—the must do’s?

The roadmap and hiring plan are configurable and tailored based on your answers to the company and asset questions. The platform allows you to designate criticality of activities. Once these inputs are completed, you can review to determine your unique circumstances and highlight what you consider to be critical activities. Our commercialization expert team can support you in providing recommendations for critical must do activities to prioritize for launch readiness

What if we’re new to this or simply need assistance?

Our onboarding and training process is thorough and extensive with both hands-on, personalized help and a readily accessible library of how-to videos. Additionally, your Corval subscription includes an implementation manager who can support data entry/edits to the platform per your guidance as well as access to our commercialization experts who can provide thought partnership in building your custom plan and supporting you as events change. This includes a quarterly business review to incorporate updates, brainstorm next steps, and provide an opportunity for feedback to enhance your experience.

You also have the option to engage with additional consulting expertise for a separate fee.

Can users edit the content without Corval’s help?

Yes. Corval can be edited, and users are given appropriate training resources and encouraged to edit themselves. With most subscriptions, you can modify the content in terms of:

  • Timing of milestones, objectives, activities
  • Modify the relationships between activities or activity-to-milestone relationships
  • Change the category/cub-category/objective structure of activities
  • Classify activities by business function and criticality
  • Update budget for activities
  • Change hire information and adjust salary and bonus

If I change a part of the plan, does everything update?

Yes. Corval’s logic interconnects the data and dependencies so timelines, costs, and hiring alignments remain intact. Examples:

  • Any objectives or activities keyed to milestones will shift accordingly when the milestone date is adjusted in the map.
  • Relationships between activities will retain their dependencies if a parent activity is adjusted.
  • Budget items, including hires and salaries, are tied to activity timing. As you adjust the timeline of your map, these costs and hires move accordingly in the budget.

Can I track actual vs plan regarding the budget or activity implementation progress?

Yes. Corval stores every change a user makes to any field in the platform. Storing data in this way allows us to create reports in the Dashboard that can illustrate changes in activity timing, status, and costs. This allows you to see the planned values versus the actual values as you close out activities and objectives in various functions. This reporting is dependent on the depth of your utilization of the platform. If users are updating dates and costs, then we can report planned-vs-actuals. If users are not making updates to the data, then the dashboards will not accurately reflect your progress.

Can we upload existing templates or historical plans?

Yes. We can support import of your historical templates and plans. As it is a collaborative effort to reconcile the formats, please speak with your Sales Representative or Customer Success team to discuss opportunities to upload your templates and plans to Corval.

Does the platform use AI for recommendations?

Corval is actively pursuing AI for recommendations in commercialization. Most data around the specifics of commercialization plans and budget are tightly held information within consulting firms and biopharma organizations. As such, there’s not publicly available domain knowledge to allow AI models to train and make such industry specific recommendations.

That said, Corval has developed an industry specific data model and classification system that will allow us to capitalize on AI and train specific recommendations.

If you have historical project and budget data and are interested in joining Corval on an AI revolution in biopharma, talk to your Sales Representative and ask to meet with our Product and Engineering team about AI opportunities.

Are there reports and dashboards available for the launch implementation team vs for senior management?

Yes. Corval dashboards are flexible, configurable, and customizable. The current out-of-the box dashboards serve both – launch implementation and as well as reports for senior management. We can further create dashboards with detailed views and reports for your functional teams to keep up with commercialization and launch activities. Additionally, we can create management and executive level dashboards that illustrate the summary data on status, upcoming budget, and hiring activity.

Are there reports for changes made by whom, for what, and when?

Yes. We store every change that a user makes at the field level. These records indicate the user, date and time stamp, prior value, and current value. This information can be added as a report in your dashboard. These reports can also be exported as a .csv file for use in excel analysis.

Let us know if you need additional reports – the Dashboard is highly configurable.

Will Corval integrate with my existing tools?

Integrations are specific exchanges of data between two systems – it takes two to tango! Let us know if you have specific applications that might require integration. The Corval Product and Engineering teams have decades of experience in high-volume data exchange applications. We would love to partner with you and expand our integration capabilities. If you have an application that is API compatible, talk to your Sales Representative or Customer Success Team. They will put you in contact with the Product team to discuss options.

Can I use Corval for a second indication, a second asset, or ex-US geographies?

Corval supports the addition of content from your team to support the plan you need. Your team will receive the training to add custom content to the Corval IND-to-PDUFA base map and extend your plan through launch or for additional indications. If you have the expertise in your team or through your service partners, there’s no limit to the scope of your plans.

We will also provide templating capabilities for your team to build a map, designate it a template, and deploy it for new projects.

How much project management functionality does Corval have?

Corval is purpose-built for commercialization planning, but we include robust project management capabilities that keep your plans current, actionable, and ready for future decision-making rounds. These include:

  • Status and percentage complete
  • Following and assignment
  • Dashboards for current, late, future activity status
  • Individual dashboards for users to manage assigned activities
  • Notes on activity level for collaboration
  • Storage of change history and reporting on recent changes
  • Version control for iterative plan changes or scenario planning
  • In development are real-time alerts, in-app collaboration, and full task workflows.

Can the data be exported?

We support data export from Corval into Excel or CSV, which can be imported into commonly used tools. Standard exports include the core fields for planning, budget, and resourcing. If your team needs a tailored export—like a specific formatting structure or filtered dataset—we can work with you to configure and customize the deliverables for you or your client. This would require follow-up conversations and additional scoping to ensure alignment with your specific needs.

Just keep in mind that while the data goes with you, Corval’s proprietary, intelligent logic functionality across dependencies, forecasts, budgets, and resource plans—as well as the drag-and-drop options, custom/contextual views and insights will be lost when the data is extracted and input into other platforms.

We understand that new solutions using innovative technology might be overwhelming at first. We are here to answer any questions regarding how Corval can elevate commercialization and launch planning.
